“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person – he believed in me.” – Jim Valvano

I recently heard a philosophical statement about life from one of my cousins, who had heard this statement from an elderly woman. I am paraphrasing. “Life is about being knocked down……But living is about getting right back up!”

Each and everyday our children should be both encouraged and comforted by the fact that we as parents believe in them. This support is essential to them as they navigate their way through life’s experiences, good, bad, and ugly.

Mistakes are inevitable. The achievements and good times have to be celebrated. Most important though is our consistency when it comes to our belief in our children.

Randy and Alex, through all of your life experiences, Mom and I will believe in you and thereby give you one of the greatest gifts that a parent can give to their child.

Love Dad.
