“They say that from the instant he lays eyes on her, a father adores his daughter. Whoever she grows up to be, she is always to him that little girl in pigtails. She makes him feel like Christmas. In exchange, he makes a secret promise not to see the awkwardness of her teenage years, the mistakes she makes or the secrets she keeps.”
Yesterday’s family thought spoke of my son and playing golf tomorrow morning. I have another child so this morning I write about my adoration for my little girl (who is not so little anymore). She is going to be a senior in high school in the fall and sooner than I care to think…off to college.
I have adored her from the moment that I laid eyes on her. The standard joke of my wife and son is that she has me wrapped around her finger…the truth is often humorous! She never really wore pigtails. I know because I often did her hair, mainly braids and twists with those little bright-colored balls and bows all over. We affectionately called them “hair dones.”
I couldn’t be a more blessed guy, tomorrow I get to play golf with my son and celebrate Christmas all in the same day. Happy Father’s Day weekend to all the Dads out there!
