The call to make families may very well be God’s gift. The generosity of our people often expands families even more, when we invite others into our folds. Aunt Mabel may not really be kin, but you grandmother’s lifelong pal. And maybe Kalil isn’t your actual blood brother, but the son of a struggling former neighbor, whom your folks “took in” long ago. Yet, no less love is spilled upon these psuedo-family members than on generations of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws you adore because they are all members of your extended family dynasty.
